
About the By-Election
The 2008 Glenrothes By-Election is one of the most important mid-term elections in recent decades.
On this website, you'll find news and information on the election and the candidates. The site is not run or managed by any of the parties or politicians standing, nor anyone on the organisational side.
The election takes place on Thursday November 6th.

The By-Election was called after the death of John McDougall - a Labour MP, and former head of Fife Council - who died of mesothelioma in August 2008.
Glenrothes is a "new town" in Central Fife, developed in the 1940's to help the region deal with the needs of the coal industry. The word Glenrothes was composed by adding the word "glen" to the name of the local "Rothes" colliery.... [Read More...]

One of the biggest draws at this week's Royal Norfolk Show is the human cannonball. All human life was to be seen at the show yesterday, from scruffy teenagers with ice cream dripping from their chins to ladies bedecked in finery that would not look out of place in the Royal Box at Ascot.

The prime minister has refused to commit himself to visiting Norwich to help his party in the critical by-election that will be held in Ian Gibson's old seat on July 23.
